Seminars > Business Case Planning and Development
A Business Case is a structured proposal for business or program improvement. It includes an analysis of business or program performance and associated needs or problems as well as proposed alternative solutions, assumptions, constraints and a risk-adjusted cost benefit analysis. It is the planning document used to justify the commitment of resources to a procurement-based (out-sourced) project.
This 2-day course will review in detail the specific competencies that procurement and project managers require in more comprehensive and complex situations. It will focus on the planning and development of a typical business case using a flow through case study to practice “brain-storming” the various planning elements.
Topics and the key benefits to attending this course will
include:
Conduct Initial Needs Assessment
- Researching, data collection and coordination.
- What needs to be acquired, designed, established, performed, built etc? Is the requirement relatively risk free, routine in its application or is it complex with moderate to high risk?
Business Case Analysis
- Understanding and developing business case planning elements.
- Researching (data collection, coordination, analysis and synthesis).
- Understanding the cost benefit analysis (justification) process and intent.

- Evaluating the major risks to viable business case options.
